What keeps my heart awake is colorful silence.
#claudemonet
Few know that the painter Monet was close to spend 7 years of his life in Algeria, doing military service.
He should have done 7 years there, but falling ill with typhoid fever a year after he arrived prevented him from ending the full military time.
He commented in 1900 during an interview for “Le Temps”:
“The light and vivid colors of North Africa contained the germ of my future researches”.
