Giving depth to the photograph, as well as protecting the piece from weathering and from scratches.
PICTOCLUB photographers use filters, lights, special darkroom processes, and digital enhancement to create beautiful original photographs for sale by order at its website. Portrait and animal photographers may use a large aperture for a shallow depth of field to put their subject in focus while keeping the background blurred. Landscape photographers wanting will want to clearly capture an entire panoramic view or may choose the opposite. Choosing black and white over colour photography gives a timeless quality to photos, while colour has a unique capacity of capturing attention.
Our extensive collection of photography for sale doesn’t just stop at PICTOCLUB originals, but it features a range of photographers from around the world, exploring a wide range of styles.
History of Photography
Photography began as early as 1826, with the first known photograph was taken by Nicéphore Niépce, producing the first stable photographic image captured using a process called heliography. The photo was taken in France outside his window. This was done using Bitumen of Judea coated on glass or metal material which hardened depending on the proportion of light that hit it, creating shapes.
The first known colour photograph was taken by James Clerk Maxwell, a mathematical physicist in 1861. Maxwell created the scientific method and Thomas Sutton invented the SLR, and actually pressed the shutter button, the picture is of a bow.
Many things have changed since Joseph Nicephore Niepce used a camera obscure. However, it was not until 1936 that colour photography came into widespread public use and 1990 marked a new era with the worldwide release of the Dycam Model 1 camera.
Due to this, the 19th and 20th Centuries became a prominent time for photographers; with Oscar Rejlander, Julia Cameron, Eadward Muybridge, Albert Bierstadt, Man Ray, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Alfred Eisenstaedt. Dorothea Lange, Edward Curtis, Diane Arbus, Annie Leibovitz, Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton and Mario Testino. Many names contributed to diverse photography styles to capture the beauty of the world surrounding us.
